“Knowledge of this plan is a powerful thing that can sustain us through thick and thin, and brighten even the most dismal of days”

Dear Family and Friends,
This has been another one of those annoyingly quick weeks. I feel like I was just writing to all of you last week. Despite how annoyingly quick it was – it was a great week. Here is the day by day:

Tuesday, October 4:

We power contacted in the morning and found three amazing new investigators, and then we took the other Elders with us to Pardubice. While we were there we got Chinese food with the Sisters for lunch, and then we went out and did a singing display for a couple of hours. It was freezing cold, though, so there weren’t a ton of people, but it was still a great time. Then we returned to Hradec Kralove and did language study, before we went back out to contact for an hour. We finished the night with English, where we talked to the class about what they do in the Fall time.

Wednesday, October 5:
We had District Meeting in the morning in Hradec, which went wonderful as is per usual. Then we went and had lunch together before we went to a tunnel, where once again we sang and contacted as a District. Afterwards, all the appointments we had for the day cancelled so we went out and contacted for the rest of the day.
Thursday, October 6:
We got up nice and early to drive into Prague, with the Sisters, for Mission Leadership Council. The meeting went well and the mission seems to be growing and improving, which is exciting to see. After MLC, the Pohorelcky made us lunch which was fantastic! Then we started our exchange with the Assistants. We ended up, once again, singing and contacting with all of the Prague District for three hours, and it was great! It was awesome to see the 10 of us all out on the streets working together! Afterwards, Elder Smith and I went tracting for the last couple hours before we retired for the night.
Friday,  October 7:
We got up and studied, and then drove back to Hradec Kralove with the Sisters. Then we weekly planned for an hour or two. After which, we went and did a chalk display with the other Elders. It didn’t go exactly as planned because a bunch of little kids joined us, but it went super well because they ended up just copying the drawing the picture of the Book of Mormon we had done, all over the town square! It was awesome! We also meet some really cool people during the contacting block. Then we ended the night with Family Home Evening at the Church.
Saturday, October 8:
We cleaned the Cathedral again in the morning, and then we ran over to the church to watch General Conference with the members. As always General Conference was great! After the first session we got lunch as a District, then watched the second session. Then we cleaned up the building and went over to Sports night, which was way successful again. Once sports night ended, we ran home and changed, so we could contact the rest of the night.
Sunday, October 9:
We watched General Conference with the members again, and once again we had a break for lunch, which the Holts prepared for us (it was way good! They made us taco soup with cornbread, and it has been at least a year and a half since Elder Oviatt and I have had that!). After the last session, we went and had a lesson with an investigator and some members, and then we spent the rest of the night finding!
Today, Tuesday, October 10:
We took another day trip to Nachod where we went and looked at some of the bunkers built for World War Two that were there, and now we are emailing!
For my spiritual thought, I just wanted to add my testimony that the Gospel of Jesus Christ img_8559brings unmeasurable joy into our lives. During the Sunday Morning Session of General Conference, it seemed that the theme of joy was repeatedly brought up, time and time again. The Plan of Happiness is exactly that, a plan to bring joy to all of God’s children! The knowledge of this plan is a powerful thing that can sustain us through thick and thin, and brighten even the most dismal of days. I testify of its truthfulness and its effect it can have upon a person that chooses to embrace it. It has changed me for the better, and I know it can do the same for every one of us. Of this I testify, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Have a great week!
Happy Days!

  1. It’s fun to read about your mission and all the wonderful work you’re doing. I feel nostalgic for my days in Greece. I’m also just a wee bit jealous that you’re enjoying the beautiful area of the world there; Prague is one of my favorite places in the world. Keep up the great work, not so little buddy.
