Dear Family and Friends,
So this week was insane!
It flew by so quick. Here is the best summary I can give, in the time I have been allotted, of the last two-ish weeks:
Tuesday/Wednesday, November 1 & 2:
To be honest, I don’t remember them very clearly, neither do I have my planner to remind myself, but we spent most of the time out contacting.
Thursday, November 4:
Was pretty normal, we studied in the morning and then we had a lesson with an investigator named Tereza.
Friday, November 5:
We worked in the morning, and then we went to Pardubice for our culture night! We had lunch as a District, and then we visited the Zamek there. To end the night we had FHE with some of the members.
Saturday, November 6:
Weekly planning in the morning, followed by lunch with the other Elders. Then we got our transfer calls! Afterward, we went tracting and then ended the night with Sports Night.
Sunday, November 7:
We traveled to Prague for the first Praha Stake Conference! It was amazing to see all of the members there and see the church moving forward here in the CZ. Then, after the conference, we traveled to Pardubice, where we made breakfast burritos for our last District dinner. Then, we went home and finished packing.
Monday, November 8:
We got up early and I made my way to Prague. When I got there, we had an Office meeting with President and Sister Pohorelicky, the Scotts, the Morgans, and the Office Elders. After we finished, we began preparing trainings and working on the various assignments that President gave us. Then we went to correlation meeting with the whole district (the 9 of us). Then, we had Family Home Evening, and I was able to see the Bowen’s and Linh for the first time in 4 months!
Tuesday, November 9:
We got to the office early and prepared some things for President, and then we had a quick coordination meeting with President. Afterward, we had a lesson with Bohumil so that we could coordinate his BAPTISM! So we got everything squared away with that, and then we were off to the airport to pick up the new missionaries. We got them and brought them to the church building and then we took them on a Prague walk through Prague Castle, across Charles Bridge, and then we ended on Old Town Square. We got them dinner and then contacting for the first time. Then we took them back to the church and got them squared away for the night.
Wednesday, November 10:
We had the New missionary training in the morning, and then we were back in the office to prepare for our trainings on Friday. Then we got lunch with Linh, followed by District meeting. Finally, we were able to sneak out, and contact for an hour or two, before we went to the departing missionary meeting. It was crazy to see Elder Bourn and all of the other Elders getting ready to go home. Then we went home for the night.
Thursday, November 11:
We got up at 3 in the morning to take the Departing Missionaries to the airport with President and Sister Pohorlicky. Then we went back to the Pohorelickys home and took a quick hour nap. Then we were off to Brno to accompany President to his interviews there. We organized a group finding activity with the whole zone, and we ended up doing a singing display on the main Namesti for 6 hours. Then we drove back to Prague, where we celebrated Elder Hymas’s 20th Birthday (Him and Elder Brockbank work with us in the office).
Friday, November 12:
We were in the office in the morning, working on training, and then we had another office meeting. We grabbed lunch, and then we had three phone conferences in a row. We had a new Zone Leader and Sister Trainer Leader Training, a New District Leader Training, and Missionary Leadership Training Meeting. After all that, we got out again and contacted for an hour. Then we were blessed by the special opportunity to hear from Elder Addler (from the 3rd quorum of the 70).
Saturday, November 13:
We had Bohumil’s Baptism! It went amazingly well and was a great experience, and then we had a get together after to celebrate it. After we ran to the office and cranked out some more work, before we went to lunch with the District. And for P-Day we went out and explored the main city of Prague for a bit.
Sorry, I don’t have much time for a spiritual thought. But this week I found a verse I loved.
Proverbs 27:17, and it reads
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
What kind of friends are we, are we people that help those around us reach their full potential? Do we surround ourselves with people that will strengthen us? I know that when we take care to surround ourselves with people that help us grow, we will be strengthened and strengthen others.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Have a great week!
